"I came from one of the big supermarkets. I helped open
23 new branches there. But I wanted more responsibility
at work. I put my CV on a job site and BP Retail got in
touch with me. The opportunity sounded interesting. And
once I'd done the interviews I could easily see that
with the fuel, the hot food and the way the business
operates, there's an extra dimension to retail at BP.
"I started as a Deputy Manager at an M&S store. And
I now have my own BP Connect store. It's not a walk in
the park, but my Territory Manager gives me lots of
advice. I like to think I'd work in a similar way if –
hopefully when – I get to his level.
"Before then, I'm still enjoying working closely with
customers and developing my team. I try to get everyone
out every two months to bond a little – Reading's only
up the road. I think that closeness shows in our
performance and our results."
