Meet Jeremy Perkins,
Retail Territory Manager.
What do you think the ethos of the business is?
"Safer, simpler, smarter."
What's surprised you about BP Retail staff?
"The speed at which a Customer Service Assistant can develop into a
Convenience Store Manager. The Connections programme is really very,
very good."
What sort of support have you had in your career at BP Retail?
"I always take great pride in telling people who I work for. And that's
not just because BP is such a strong brand. The team that I work with both
at store level and from a central perspective have always given me time,
effort and the support I've needed throughout my career."
What's your relationship with your Store Managers like?
"You'd have to ask them! I hope they see me as somebody they can turn to
for advice, who they can rely on to be professional, consistent and reliable.
Who will stretch their aspirations and skills. Someone they want to work with.
I do expect a lot from my team. I'm sure they would say too much at times.
But they rarely let me down. And that makes me very proud."
What do you look for in a potential BP Retail employee?
"Charisma, a can-do attitude, a hunger to learn, a sense of urgency and a
reliable nature."
What do you think defines 'management material'?
"The attitude is the key. If you're determined, conscientious, professional,
courteous and, most of all, honest – the rest normally follows."
